Catching Glimmers: Finding Peace in Small Moments

Glimmers are small moments that make us feel a sense of calm, connection, peace, and safety. They're those little things that instantly elevate our mood, even on the toughest days. As a therapist dedicated to making therapy relatable and accessible, I want to share how to find and cherish these glimmers in your life.

What are Glimmers?

Glimmers can be found in relationships, moments, and even places. These are the times when you feel anchored in your ventral vagal (safe and social) energy. Glimmers remind us that even on a bad day, there are still sources of joy and peace.

Glimmers in Relationships:

  • The people (or pets) in your life who bring you a feeling of being safe and welcome.
  • These individuals can include those present in your life, as well as those no longer living or spiritual figures who you feel connected to.

Glimmers in Moments:

  • Think about activities that make you feel relaxed and connected.
  • Identify small, nourishing actions that you can turn to when you feel dysregulated.
  • Keep track of these activities and revisit them whenever you need to find your balance.

Reflective Questions:

  1. Who in your life makes you feel safe and welcome?
  2. What activities or moments bring you a sense of calm and connection?
  3. How can you incorporate more of these glimmers into your daily routine?

Glimmers are everywhere; we just need to learn to notice and cherish them. Take a moment today to find your glimmers and embrace the peace they bring to your life.
